The Hawkbill knife. The popularity of Hawkbill knives is on the rise. Named for the shape of its unique blade shape, this distinctive blade resembles a hawk’s beak with a sharp downward curve. The inward curved cutting-edge sharp, which make is suited to many cutting tasks. The spine is smooth, which allows you to place a finger there to guide it while you use the entire length of the blade to cut. The Hawkbill has a much thicker, stronger blade tip which makes it more suitable for tough jobs. The Hawkbill blade is designed to catch and apply direct strong pressure toward the cut while hooking the material and not allowing it to slide along the cutting surface. This makes it very effective at cutting many materials. To sharpen your Hawkbill knife, use a sharpening stone which has a round edge.
